Nečekají nás světlé zítřky. Místo nich máme jen spoustu utopických scénářů plných shod okolností i rozdílností. Některé vyplývají z nových sociálních praxí, jiné rekontextualizují architektonické či vědecké poznatky. Volba toho či onoho utopického modelu nicméně závisí na každém z nás. Ke každému rubu ovšem zároveň náleží i líc. Za šťastnými představami o budoucnosti se vždy skrývají utlačované společenské skupiny, nespravedlivé přerozdělení zdrojů a další problémy. V obdobných souvislostech se slovo „utopie“ mnohdy pojí i se svým antonymem „dystopie“. Rozlišit jedno od druhého přitom není vždy úplně snadné.
Výraz „utopie“ původně pochází z řečtiny. Jedná se o složeninu slov oὐ („ne“) a τόπος („místo“). Ve většině případů toto slovo vystihuje neuskutečnitelné sny o budoucnosti. Pro potřeby výstavy ji však nepovažujeme ani za místo, ani za nic statického, nýbrž za proces, ideu, událost, pokus, proud myšlení, hypotézu a fantazii.
Celý projekt lze vnímat jako laboratoř. Umělci se ujímají role vědců a pokouší se předpovědět, jak se naše realita v (ne)blízké budoucnosti změní. Veškeré jejich předpovědi jsou ryze spekulativní a individuální. Najdou se tací, co se domnívají, že se nový svět bude zakládat na kolektivní paměti, další se zabývají jeho ekologickými aspekty a jiní jej reprezentují v kontextu feministických, technokratických a ostatních teorií. Uvedení umělci nenabízí realistickou vizi budoucnosti, ale spíše kudy všudy se (ne)může ubírat.

Výstava pojednává o utopii. Ta představuje imaginární prostor, kde jsou všichni šťastní. Předpokládá se, že utopii nelze vytvořit. Z toho důvodu se toto slovo mnohdy pojí s neuskutečnitelnými, ale vznešenými myšlenkami.
Výstava představuje umělce, kteří se utopií zabývají a nabízí rozličné modely budoucnosti. Nevyobrazují ji přitom jako prostor, tedy překrásnou zemi, město nebo snad ostrov, nýbrž zcela jinak v podobě událostí, artefaktů, textů či myšlenek.

There is no bright future: instead, there are many utopian scenarios that have some similarities alongside the differences. Some of them are based on new social practices, while others recontextualise architectural or scientific ideas. However, this or that utopian model is purely individual. At the same time, there is another side to the coin. Behind the happy image of the future one always can find oppressed social groups, unfair distribution of resources, and other issues. In this context, the word „utopia“ is often associated with the word „dystopia“ (which is an antonym). It can be quite difficult to draw a clear distinction between them.
The word „utopia“ has a Greek origin. It is formed from two words: from oὐ („not“) and τόπος („place“). It is usually used in the context of unrealistic dreams about the future. However, in terms of the exhibition, it is not a place or something static, but also a process, an idea, an event, an experiment, a movement of thought, a hypothesis, and a fantasy.
This project is a laboratory. Here artists, like scientists, try to predict how reality will change in the near (or not so-near) future. These forecasts are speculative and individual. Some of the artists believe that the new world will be based on collective memory, others explore its ecological aspects, and others represent the future world in the context of feminist, technocratic, and other theories. The artists in this exhibition do not offer a realistic vision of the future but show its (im)possible trajectories.

This exhibition is about utopia. Utopia is an imaginary space where everyone is happy. It is believed that it is impossible to build a utopia. Therefore, this word is often associated with unrealistic, but noble ideas
The exhibition features artists who reflect on utopia. They offer different models of the future. But it is not about some spaces — like a beautiful country, city, or even an island. The artists are trying to show utopia in a different way — in the form of events, artifacts, texts, and ideas.
