Bebawinigi (IT) ♣ Benjamin Whitehill (UK)

BEBAWINIGIIt’s a musical and performative project created by Virginia Quaranta aka Bebawinigi. It is an all-around experiment. She experiments with a wide variety of genres to create something new; she experiments with instruments but also with any objects that could make an interesting sound; above all she experiments with her voice and theatricality through a broad range of different timbres, vocal registers and colours; lastly she experiments with verbal language often preferring her own personal „grammelot“ (an invented language) over Italian or English.According to the artist, the name Bebawinigi represents the graceless, grotesque, disturbing and inexorably imperfect creature that lies in each one of us, which we try to get rid of when we become adults, but which will always be a part of us.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5MRqlFTMGVEhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GwhRHAS4-jUhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0lAvvRkrFRs&list=RD0lAvvRkrFRs&start_radio=1https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aTGct3_xuW0&list=RDaTGct3_xuW0&start_radio=1BENJAMIN WHITEHILLBerlin based guitar mangling noise-troubadour, Benjamin Whitehill, employs the instrument as both sender and receiver of signals-cum-vessel of disturbances, in the conjuring of a pseudo tape music – comprised of oblique strings, meandering melodies, feedback, radio-waves and electronic pulp – buzzing with mischievous voices; in tune with the cosmic microwave background. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nR88JRAioCM&list=RDnR88JRAioCM&start_radio=1https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bGFP6F9lIKM&list=RDbGFP6F9lIKM&start_radio=1https://benjaminwhitehill.com/ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0Cqx2g0nj6s&list=RD0Cqx2g0nj6s&start_radio=1This concert takes part in SKRONK‘ series, currated by Helena Konvalinová.
