Beside Bodies

Curators: Agáta Young Hošnová, Karolína Voleská The exhibition traces emancipatory and feminist approaches across different time periods, from the second half of the 20th century to the present day. It focuses on shifts in thinking about the body in relation to concepts of bodily autonomy and hegemonic systems of control. It builds on feminist positions and develops them in the direction of questions of queer history and a critique of normative masculinity. Through works by Joseph Chen (Virtue Village), Anchan/Anna Daučíková, Lenka Klodová and Ondřej Kubeš, it explores the boundaries of corporeality as a space in which personal and social experiences are inscribed into gestures and fragments of clothing, understood as surfaces from which performativity emerges.
