Transforma.EXP is the exhibition section of the Transforma festival, which has been an essential part of its programming since the beginning. Now, this platform aims to expand its scope into the gallery environment and establish collaborations across genres, cities, and spaces.
The group exhibition „Stones of Nostalgia,“ loosely inspired by this year’s theme of the Transforma festival, presents four young contemporary artists. Nostalgia [nostalgɪjε] – a feeling of pleasure and mild sadness evoked by memories of the past.
The exhibition explores the influence of terrain, architecture, and elements of landscape on the artistic expressions of Barbora Vovsová, Karolína Kolbová, Josef Kukučka, and Iva Davidová. Ruins, old buildings, and untouched nature evoke strong memories and prompt further questions. Stones and decaying objects become not only aesthetic inspiration but also symbols with a spiritual dimension.
Matter embedded in the landscape refers to specific moments that we constantly revisit and become part of our identity. Ruins that refer to previous civilizations and the cycles of life and society that disappear and begin anew.
