Donna Haraway ve svém Manifestu zpochybňuje hranice mezi člověkem a strojem a inspiruje k vytváření a akceptování hybridit, Monster Manifesto ale exponuje další aspekt tohoto směru: společnost často raději vidí monstra jako bizarní, cool, děsivá, nebo odpudivá, než aby vnímala říkají. Estetizace Jinakosti je pohodlným způsobem, jak se společnost vyrovnává s nepohodlnými skutečnostmi, které narušují normativní hegemonie. Ale co když je nedobrovolná, či zvolená monstrozita svědectvím, které má právo na politické rozlišení a existenciální rozměr nad rámec estetických a spektakulárních účinků v podobě kulturních objektů?

At a time when Donna Haraway challenges the boundaries between human and machine and inspires us to accept and create hybridities, Monster Manifesto exposes something else: society often prefers to perceive “monsters” as bizarre, cool, or frightening rather than to understand what they are saying. The aestheticization of Otherness is a convenient way to cope with uncomfortable realities that disrupt normative hegemonies. But what if forced or chosen monstrosity is a form of testimony—one that demands political recognition and an existential dimension beyond the aesthetic and spectacular effects of cultural objects?
