Ivo Škuta and Jan Vrabček, both painters from the same studio at the Faculty of Arts of the University of Ostrava, meet at this exhibition as a surprising artistic duo. Despite their shared background, their creative approaches and aesthetics differ significantly. Ivo Škuta’s playful and illustrative works, which combine acrylic and airbrush, tell stories that may seem like jokes at first glance, but upon closer examination reveal themselves to be sad and poignant. Meanwhile, Jan Vrabček explores the world through vibrant, colorful abstractions complemented by specific objects and installations. His work is wild and undisciplined, yet also quiet and personal. The exhibition, curated by Hynek Chmelař, is the result of their focused and solitary creative work, exploring the theme of movement, with both positive and negative connotations and an uncertain ending. The artists contemplate the fate of things, people, and works, examining the meaning of movement in this ambiguity.
